Production Operator

Bridger Steel, a long term, manufacturing company is seeking a Production Operator in our Billings store.  The successful candidate will work hands-on with operating production equipment in a fast paced environment that includes working with customers, sales, office staff, and other production personnel.  Position will report directly to the Shop Supervisor. 

Duties include but are not limited to: operating various pieces of production equipment such as brake and shear, roll former and standing seam, safely loading customer orders, maintaining and fixing equipment, counting and stocking inventory, complying with all procedural expectations and safety standards, cleaning work areas, and operating a forklift.

This position requires ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, bend, and twist during entire shift, a high school diploma or equivalent preferred; good communication and organization skills; basic math skills with the ability to convert fractions and decimals and read a tape measure; ability to concentrate while doing repetitive tasks; good hand eye coordination; ability to read customer paperwork and function in a demanding shop environment under a variety of climates and conditions.   Mechanical as well as machine maintenance experience beneficial. Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record required.  CDL license a plus.

Store Operational Hours:  Monday through Friday (Seasonally ½ day Saturday).  Job is primarily Monday through Friday, day shift, with an occasional Saturday and seasonal overtime as needed.

Product Specialist 

Bridger Steel, a long term, metal manufacturing company is seeking a Product Specialist for our Billings store. Our Product Specialists serve our customers through product education and counter sales as well as work with other team members in inventory, production, and general office. This position reports directly to Sales Supervisor.   

Duties include but are not limited to: answering the phone and meeting with clients to gather information specific to project, client and geography; estimating and bidding projects of varying size and scope using our metal products; writing and processing orders from customers and making revisions as needed; instructing customers on our recommended installation instructions for materials; educating customers on different products and their applications; creating and following up on job estimates for contractors, architects, and homeowners; assisting with conflict resolution as needed; trouble shooting skills with ability to handle stressful situations such as rejection, varying workload and meeting assigned deadlines.  

This position requires a minimum of 3+ years of experience in full scope construction with roofing and siding experience preferred or 2+ years of architecture experience; the ability to read and understand construction documents and blue prints; familiarity with drawing and/or estimating program beneficial; mathematical aptitude and attention to detail; goal oriented; sales background helpful but not required. Accomplished customer service skills and strong listening skills; excellent organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills. Good decision making and ability to take initiative independent of direct supervision, extremely organized, ability to track multiple tasks while prioritizing projects, being able to work as part of a team.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office; aptitude for navigating POS (Point of Sales) software is a plus; Valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle report are a must.  
Store Operational Hours:  Monday through Friday.  (Seasonally ½ day on Saturday)  Job is primarily Monday through Friday, day shift, with an occasional Saturday and seasonal overtime as needed.  Start time is either 7:30 a.m. or 8:30 a.m.

Delivery Driver/Production Operator

Bridger Steel, a long standing, locally owned and operated metal manufacturing company is seeking a dual role - Delivery Driver and Production Operator in our Belgrade store and warehouse. At this time, the deliveries will vary in distance, but will primarily be in a 150 mile radius of our store.   

Duties include but are not limited to: driving a Freightliner Semi, Freightliner M-2 and F550 truck with a 20' or 35' foot gooseneck trailer”, operating a Moffett forklift; safely delivering customer orders; helping unload orders; as well as working in the shop area operating various pieces of production equipment such as brake and shear; and complying with all procedural expectations and safety standards.  

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; Class A CDL license; good communication, customer service, time management and organizational skills; basic math skills with the ability to convert fractions and decimals and read a tape measure; ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, bend, and twist during shift as well as read customer paperwork and operate in a high-paced, demanding environment under a variety of climates and conditions.  Valid state driver's license and clean driving record required; Moffitt forklift preferred, mechanical, and machine maintenance experience beneficial.

Store Operational Hours:  Monday through Friday.  (Seasonally ½ day Saturday). Job is primarily Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM day shift.  At times, early delivery 6 AM start; or Saturday and seasonal overtime as needed.

Standing Seam Operator

Bridger Steel Standing Seam Operator with Class a CDL

Bridger Steel a long standing, metal manufacturing company is seeking a full-time Standing Seam Operator in our Black Hawk store.  This is a warehouse based position – with the opportunity to work at job site and transport equipment to/from using a Class A CDL without air brakes endorsement.  The successful candidate will work with customers, sales, office, and other production personnel.   

Duties include but are not limited to: operating the standing seam metal roll former as well as other pieces of production equipment such as the break and the shear; safely loading and delivering customer orders; operating a forklift; maintaining and fixing equipment; and complying with all procedural expectations and safety standards.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; experience driving a truck with a gooseneck trailer or similar setup; mechanical and forklift experience; ability to problem solve and work independently with little supervision and possess a goal oriented, team attitude, mentality; good communication and organization skills (both written and verbal); basic math skills with the ability to convert fractions and decimals as well as read customer paperwork and a tape measure; ability to lift 50+ lbs. and stand, bend, and twist during shift while  operating in a high-paced, demanding environment under a variety of climates and conditions.  Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record required.  Machine maintenance experience preferred. Sales Supervisor

The Sales Supervisor will oversee the workflow of the sales area while selling product and collaborating with the Store Manager in our Helena, Montana location to ensure consistent growth of sales through positive planning and staffing of sales team.

Core Functions:

  • Serve our customers through product education and counter sales.
  • Direct the work of the sales staff to maximize efficiency and to provide optimal customer service.
  • Train sales staff to be efficient and knowledgeable of products.
  • Discuss with Store Manager to establish realistic sales goals for the company.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Answer phone and meet with clients to gather information specific to project, client and geography.
  • Educate customers on different products and their applications.
  • Instruct customers on our recommended installation instructions for materials.
  • Create and process orders from customers into the computer system.
  • Generate and follow up on job estimates for customers.
  • Collaborate with the sales staff in resolving all customer complaints regarding sales, service, and product issues for all orders taken by the sales team.
  • Direct personnel and train sales staff.
  • Implement all sales policies, practices and procedures with sales team.
  • Represent/coordinate company at trade shows to promote products.
  • Communicate effectively with management, peers, and other store’s personnel.
  • Train new and current employees on product knowledge, policies, and procedures.
  • Observe sales staff and provide input to the Store Manager regarding performance for reviews.
  • Team up with marketing department to develop web site ideas and scripting on install videos, and product videos.
  • Serve as point of contact for technical items for marketing.
  • Report and communicate regularly with Store Manager.
  • Conduct sales meetings regularly to review sales goals, expectations, policy updates and procedures, as well as discuss any issues.
  • Partner with Office Manager to ensure all procedures are being followed. 
  • Review open sales reports and update frequently.
  • Examine sales summary reports regularly to ensure sales goals are being met.
  • Ensure shifts are covered for absent staff members.
  • Understand and operate efficiently in QuickBooks.
  • Collaborate and be in contact with outside sales staff.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in construction industry or equivalent experience as sales representative with market knowledge of roofing and siding
  • Two + years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to read blue prints or construction documents 
  • Strong intrapersonal skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and motivate sales team to reach goals
  • Positive attitude and general spirit of optimism
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Periodically lift approximately 40 – 50 lbs
  • Point of Sales experience not required but preferred

 

This position is primarily Monday through Friday dayshift with the ability to work approved overtime as needed. Hourly $23.00 - $25.00 DOE with overtime after 40 hours worked in a work week.
