If you have a project on your to-do list this year that involves metal panels, ordering samples should be high on your list of priorities. Ordering samples can help you make sure you’re getting the right panel profile, gauge, and color or finish for your project without any doubt. Here’s a simple, how-to guide to ordering both metal panel and color samples from Bridger Steel.

Before You Order Samples

Explore All Your Panel Options

Before you decide to order samples for your metal roofing, siding, interior, or accent project, you may want to explore all the different panel options we have available. With a wide variety of both exposed fastener and concealed fastener systems, there’s a panel for virtually every style and project. Some of our metal panels are best for roofing, while others may be only applicable for siding or walls. Plus, there are a few panels more recommended over others for interior projects as well as fencing. Be sure to reference our Design Gallery for even more inspiration!

Consider What Gauge You’ll Need

A metal panel’s gauge refers to its thickness, and is an important factor to consider before purchasing samples. The gauge you need for your project can be determined by a number of different factors with environment and climate being at the top of the list. You’ll want to think about the types of weather that are typical to your location. Are you in a heavy snow area up in the mountains? Or maybe you’re in an area where hailstorms occur and you need impact resistance?

Regardless of your project’s location, understanding the type of environment and challenges your panels will face can help you determine the best gauge. You should talk to your Product Specialist about these types of details before order samples to ensure you are on the right track.

Narrow Down Color/Finish Options

With the wide variety of color and finish options Bridger Steel has available, you’ll want to narrow your choice down to just a handful before purchasing samples. Whether you’re aiming for a neutral colored siding or a textured finish for a roof, there are a lot of options available to suit virtually any style. Narrowing down your options to a handful of different colors is a great way to help you decide on the final finish.

Being able to see the actual colors in person rather than just on our website is highly recommended because you’ll be able to see the panels in different lighting during different times of the day. If you’re having trouble deciding on a color or finish, our team can help you out. We can give expert recommendations specific to your project’s needs and your aesthetic wants. It’s also important to talk with a team member before purchasing samples in certain colors because some colors, gauges, and profiles can only be produced for specific panels.

Review Contractors In Your Area

If you are planning on using a contractor to install your metal roofing, siding, or accent panels, you should do your research before purchasing samples and making a final decision on the type of metal panel you want to use. There are a lot of different contractors out there so you’ll want to make sure you’re choosing carefully. You’ll also want to make sure your chosen contractor has worked with your type of metal panels before (meaning they have experience with either exposed or concealed fastener systems).

A great way to get started with narrowing down contractor options is by talking to references. A few questions you should be asking these references include the following:

  • Did they stay within their initial estimated quote?
  • Did the project get completed on time?
  • Was the project completed within the budget that was decided?
  • Did they provide licensing and insurance?
  • Was the project completed within code to stand the timeframe of the warranty?

It’s important to research and really review each contractor in order to insure you’re getting an experienced company that has stellar references for installation!

After you’ve taken those necessary steps, you can start your purchasing process for metal panels and color samples. Bridger Steel provides a large selection of 4 x 4 and 12 x 12 inch sample sizes. You can order all of our panel profiles in sample sizes and in virtually any color or finish we have available.

We offer sample sizes of all our panel profiles in bare Galvalume so you can look at the profile without any distraction of color. We also offer color sample packs in neutral and textured finishes so you can take a look at multiple color options at once time.
