Understanding Paint Systems
Just like paints available at a store, paint systems are each designed for different uses, lifecycles and protection. Some systems are built for longevity, while others may work better in humid or coastal climates.  Understanding which system is right for your build is an important step in making the right choice for your metal colors.
SMP: Silicon Modified Polyester
SMP paint systems is among the hardest paint systems on the market, making it extremely resistant to abrasions and able to be used in a wide range of metal forming without cracking.  Often more economically priced than a PVDF, it is a popular option for residential and agricultural uses.
PVDF: Premium Polyvinylidene Fluoride
PVDF systems provide exceptional weather protection, and are designed to handle exposure to harsh weather conditions.  This commercial-grade paint system maintains its appearance over long periods when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) and atmospheric pollutants.
SRI: Solar Reflective Index
The Solar Reflective Index (SRI) is a measurement to gauge a roof's ability to minimize solar heating, a strong factor in Green Building standards. The SRI is scaled from 0 (standard black) to 100 (standard white). SRI calculations are also based on initial and aged reflectance and emittance values.
